At The Durable Slate Company, you’ll transition from standard residential roofing into high-skill specialty work including slate, tile, and copper systems—materials that last 50–100+ years through our paid apprenticeship program.
We’re one of the few companies in the U.S. that trains and develops craftsmen in these trades.
What You’ll Do
- Install and repair slate, tile, and metal roofing systems
- Work on historic buildings, churches, and high-end homes
- Perform detailed, precision-based roofing (not production installs)
- Learn specialty techniques most roofers never get exposure to
What We’re Looking For
Experience in steep slope roofing
Comfortable working at heights using ladders, lifts, and scaffolding
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Valid driver’s license with no more than 4 points, pass a pre-employment drug test and background check
Strong work ethic, reliability, and teamwork
Willingness and ability to travel to different job sites
Desire for a long-term career in historic roofing and preservation
