The Durable Slate Company, an award-winning historic roofing contractor established in 1986, is seeking a Roofing Laborer Apprentice to join our team. We specialize in slate, copper, and clay-tile roofing and are known for our commitment to quality craftsmanship, safety, and historic preservation. This is a paid apprenticeship designed for individuals who want to learn the trade, gain hands-on experience, and grow into skilled roofing professionals.
What You’ll Do
Assist skilled roofers with installation, repair, and maintenance of historic slate, clay-tile, and copper roofs
Handle materials, tools, and job site setup safely and efficiently
Learn roofing techniques, safety procedures, and craftsmanship skills
Maintain clean, safe, and organized job sites
Support the team on historic preservation projects
What We’re Looking For
Motivated individuals with a strong work ethic
Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced roofers
Comfortable working at heights using ladders, lifts, and scaffolding
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
Valid driver’s license with 4 points or less, ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and background check
Interest in long-term career development in roofing and historic preservation
